At Greater Farallones National Marine Sanctuary, we are concerned with the impacts of our activities on our changing climate. To address climate change mitigation, the Green Operations Working Group was formed as part of the Office of National Marine Sanctuaries Blue Seas Green Communities Initiative to develop strategies and recommendations to reduce the carbon footprint of sanctuary operations. Participants include representatives from the San Francisco Department of Environment, Golden Gate National Park, Presidio Trust, BAR Architects, and several members of the Advisory Council. Working group members edited and contributed to the Green Operations Plan (PDF, 550KB), the mitigation component of the Climate-Smart Conservation Program, which provides over 130 strategies to reduce the green house gas emissions that result from the facilities and operations of Greater Farallones National Marine Sanctuary.
