The Seabird Colony Protection Program looks to our Technical Advisory Committee and
our Outreach and Education and Enforcement and Coordinated Management Working
Groups for invaluable support and advise.

Working Groups

The Technical Advisory Committee meets on an annual basis and is made up of members representing a wide range of both federal and state agencies, representing program areas that include expertise from scientists, natural resource managers, enforcement officers and agents and ocean educators. The Technical Advisory Committee provides an opportunity for those who study and manage ocean wildlife to interact with each other and set priorities for the program, taking into account budget, staffing and feasibility of all strategies. Workshops

November, 3, 2005

The goals of the workshop were to:
1) Review and characterize seabird colony disturbance
2) More effectively coordinate seabird colony enforcement, management and education efforts
3) Set priorities for future regulatory, management, education and outreach actions

The workshop's main focus was on incorporating the results of current baseline monitoring, identifying seabird colony disturbances, and addressing current management and education needs. It proved to be a successful opportunity for those who study, manage and protect ocean wildlife to interact with each other, and work cooperatively toward the goal of reducing human disturbances to seabird colonies.
